I will be honest, I have never done a side by side ingredient comparison of my products and commercial soap. I am not surprised by what I have found but I am appalled. I use to tell a friend that she might as well be bathing in bleach( she used the junk soap), I pretty much hit the nail on the head with that statement.

 
I’ve always said “If you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it or eat it”. Just in this list, there are at least 6 words that I can not pronounce and I surely had to look them up to figure out what they were. I am not trying to bash these companies, I am trying to protect people from the hazards of using products that I consider unsafe and in no way natural. Once I got to the Tetrasodium EDTA, I knew we were in trouble. There is no good that comes of formaldehyde and sodium cyanide, unless you are already dead, at that point it wreaks havoc on our environment.

 
I could go on and on about all of these things but I’ll refrain from doing so. I want to keep it short and sweet so you will stay with me and read the whole list. Please take the time to know what products you are using and what they actually put in them. Large manufactures are not always the way to go, they are not your friend. Especially when it comes to what you use on your body or the foods that are consumed.

1. Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate
-Mild synthetic detergent, used for cleansing. Used for emulsification and degreasing. It can be drying.
2. Stearic Acid
-Harding agent
3. Sodium Tallowate
-Tallow or beef, sheep fat. The “ate” part is salt. Contributes to a hard bar with creamy lather.
4. Sodium Palmitate
-Palm oil and Lye combined. Contributes to harness and lather. It can be drying
5. Lauric Acid
-Known as SLS, a foaming agent and synthetic detergent. It is commonly used as a degreaser in shampoo. It strips skin of natural oils.
6. Sodium Isethionate
-Mild synthetic detergent, creates dense lather. Also used as a anti static agent in shampoo.
7. Water
That’s natural.
8. Sodium Stearate
-Stearic acid and lye. A surfactant, clings to dirt and helps water to rinse it off.
9. Cocamidopropyl Betaine
-A synthetic surfactant derived from coconut oil and dimethyaminopropylamine(I would lose in a spelling bee)
10. Sodium Cocoate
-Coconut oil and lye
11. Sodium Palm Kernelate
-Palm Kernel oil and lye. Makes a hard bar of soap.
12. Sodium Chloride
-Salt. Used after saponification process to draw out water and glycerin. The sell the glycerin or put it in other products.
13.Tetrasodium EDTA
-Used in place of parabens, water softener and preservative. Made from formaldehyde and sodium cyanide. There are mixed studies about whether or not it can be absorbed by the skin.
14. Tetrasodium Etidronate
-Water softener.
15. Maltol
-Flavor enhancer. Can become a sweet smell in products
16. Titanium Dioxide
-Whiting agent
